The best hospitality, food and beverage branding agencies

A hotel or restaurant brand isn’t something people only look at. They sit in it, eat from it and photograph it. The identity has to work on a menu, a coffee cup, a sign above the door and an Instagram post at the same time. These five studios design brands for places and products people experience with all their senses.

Papaya Playa Project, Tulum

Futura keeps graphic design, interiors and architecture under one roof, which is why its restaurants and hotels feel designed as a whole rather than decorated afterwards. Founded in Monterrey in 2008 and now based in Mexico City, the studio branded the Papaya Playa Project, a hotel in Tulum set up to rethink hospitality. It designed the interiors, branding and packaging for Mexico City coffee shop Motín, and created the identity for Lila Molino, a taqueria that brings Mexico to the Middle East.

Infinite Session

B&B Studio was founded by Shaun Bowen and Kerry Bolt in 2009 and specializes in creating food and drink brands for founders, often before the product exists. For alcohol-free beer Infinite Session it created the name, positioning, identity and packaging. Its long relationship with Fever-Tree shows the other side of the story: what happens when a brand you helped launch becomes the category leader.

Oro: strategy, identity and website for a new water brand

Two Times Elliott combines brand strategy and identity with spatial design, which suits drinks brands and small venues where the product, the space and the voice need to feel like one idea. For Oro, a new water brand from Jordan, it worked with the founders from the start on strategy, voice, identity and website. Instead of selling the water on where it comes from, the brand is built on precision: the same mineral content in every bottle, type set like a spec sheet, and the bottle shown as an engineered object. Earlier hospitality work includes the gold-foiled identity for Disrepute, a members’ bar in Soho, and everything from loyalty cards to takeaway cups for The Dayrooms Café.

Hotel Park Ave, New York

For Hotel Park Ave in New York, London studio Colt created an identity that design critics described as quietly sculptural rather than loudly luxurious. It feels like New York without leaning on the usual city clichés. That restraint is useful for boutique hotels competing in markets where every property claims to be iconic.

The Twenty Two, Mayfair

For The Twenty Two, a hotel on London’s Grosvenor Square, Javas Lehn Studio built an identity around the meeting of old and new. Working with illustrator Rosie McGuinness, the studio chose an editorial, hand-painted direction instead of the usual hotel aesthetic, turning a historic address into a place with a lived-in personality.

What hospitality and F&B branding has to handle

Before you brief an agency

Decide early whether the agency will work alongside your interior designer or architect, or whether you need one studio for both. Bring floor plans and mood images of the space. And list every touchpoint you’ll need on opening day, from menus to staff uniforms.

Frequently asked questions

What does hospitality branding include?

Usually name, identity, menus, signage, packaging, uniforms, website and social templates. For hotels it can also include wayfinding, room materials and guest communications.

Should the branding agency also design the interior?

It helps when they work closely together. Some studios do both; others partner with architects. What matters is that the brand and the space are developed at the same time.

How long does a restaurant or hotel branding project take?

A restaurant identity typically takes two to four months. A hotel brand with signage, wayfinding and printed materials can take six months or more, often tied to the construction schedule.

How do drinks brands differ from restaurant brands?

Drinks brands live mainly on shelves, bar menus and online, so packaging carries most of the brand. Restaurants rely more on space, service and atmosphere.

When should a restaurant rebrand?

Common triggers are a new location, a menu change, a new concept or opening more sites. A rebrand is also worth it when the place looks dated in photos.
